Cardrona To Host FIS World Cup

LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (July 3, 2008) - New Zealand has once again secured a stop on the prestigious FIS World Cup circuit, with Snow Sports New Zealand hosting the LG FIS Snowboard World Cup Half Pipe at Cardrona Alpine Resort in Lake Wanaka on September 6 - 7.

Blaine Fontana was born in Seattle, WA and raised on Bainbridge Island, where he naturally developed an organic element to his art. After graduating high school, graffiti led him through the streets of Seattle, Portland, and on to Los Angeles where he attended Otis College of Art and Design and graduated at the top of his class winning the "Best in Show" award.

Officials announced today that the resort will dedicate the entire Carinthia mountain face to freestyle terrain parks when it opens for the 2008-09 season, transforming 95 acres of trails into a massive park system.
